Zebra Desktop - Keyboard Solutions

Zebra´s keyboard display units the KDU and new KDU PlusTM, offer solutions that allow the printer to operate independently of a host machine, which in turn can remove the need for an often expensive PC. The KDU also saves on valuable work space.

Removing the printer from the ties of an operating infrastructure allows for the format retrieval, data entry and label output to be taken to the point of application or production. This saves costs, reduces users walk time and ensures that the correct information is applied at point of manufacture or assembly.

Traditionally, stand-alone operation was only available on EPLTM based printers when utilising the legacy keyboard; the KDU. However, now all ZPL® based printers can utilise the new KDU Plus. Additional depth can be added to an application with the durable, ergonomic design and features of the KDU Plus. The larger screen, QWERTY layout and three auxiliary ports allow for the control and data acceptance from a greater number of connected peripherals, i.e. keypads, card readers, weighing scales, scanners or cash drawers. Furthermore, the three operating modes of Form, File or Terminal, cater for various format and data handling operations, and direct printer instruction.

Alternative keyboard layouts can be controlled on the KDU and KDU Plus by the EPL programming language via a specific country option and associated overlay to the devices function buttons. A similar, programmed operation is also achievable for ZPL solutions requiring international or extended character support on the KDU Plus.
