Notice of Discontinuation (Star SP200, SP300 and SP2000)

I, Simon Martin, would like to formally confirm that Star Micronics Co. Ltd Japan plan to discontinue the SP200, SP300 and SP2000 range of Dot Matrix printers effective from the 1st July 2008.

This rationalisation of our range has been necessary due to continued decreasing sales and more importantly that our newer ranges the SP700 and SP500 have much higher specification and are more competitive.

Star Micronics Co. Ltd. Japan is due to finalise the last production quantities for these models based on the forward sales plan issued by its sales subsidiaries on the fourth working day of March 2008.

In order that your customers are not inconvenienced in the period they consider moving to one of our Newer and higher specification ranges (SP700 and SP500), I would recommend that you arrange for them to submit a final forecast / order for their requirement which we can include in our plan at the start of March 2008.

Spares for these ranges will be available for the next 5 years in order they can be adequately serviced and maintained in the future.
