Intermec SR60 Handheld Scanner - now available

Intermec is now accepting orders for the new SR60 Scanner with shipments starting end of July.

The new SR60 scanner replaces the current 1553 XLR scanner and some 1550 and 1551 long range configuration, which was End of Life, June 30th. Although quite successful, the Sabre 1553 does not comply with RoHS mandates and current Sabre 1553 customers should begin transitioning to the new Intermec SR60 scanner very soon at a cheaper price. The new SR60 scanner will continue to enable customers to scan barcodes from up to 11 metres (36 ft) away.

The Intermec SR60 is ideal for industrial applications including warehouse management, work in process, and in-transit visibility applications where long distance scanning is required.

Connecting via serial, USB, wand emulation and keyboard wedge interfaces, the SR60 is the appropriate tethered, long range scanning solution for Intermec handheld and vehicle mount terminals.

Extra Long Range Scanning
Intermec’s SR60 is a handheld industrial strength scanner designed to meet the needs of users who require extra long range scanning. The SR60 quickly and easily scans barcodes as close as 71 cm (27 in) and as far as 11 metres (36 ft) away. As users experience the ease of long-range scanning, they won’t need to stretch the scanner cable in an attempt to reach the desired bar code.

Minimal Downtime
The industrial design of the SR60 ensures minimal downtime for users. The SR60 withstands multiple drops to concrete from nearly 2 metres (6.5 ft), cold and hot temperatures, and is sealed to withstand dirt and incidental water. This enables users to utilize the SR60 for scanning applications inside and out, including freezer environments.

Easy Interface to Many Computers
The SR60 supports multiple interface options including serial, USB, wand emulation and keyboard wedge. It seamlessly connects to legacy and new Intermec handheld and vehicle mount computers including CK30, CK31, CK60, 700 Series and CV60, bringing them extra long range scanning capability for increased productivity.

Accessories to Work Smarter Not Harder
The SR60 features a variety of mounting options including forklift mount and dangle suspension for easy, consistent access. Additionally, the heated holder options eliminate condensation problems enabling users to scan in cold and freezer environments.

The SR60 scanner supports a variety of applications in all four Intermec verticals. The versatility of the SR60, with arm’s length and Extra Long Range (XLR) scanning capability, means that customers who require the ability to scan items from a variety of points in their manufacturing and warehousing processes will have the tool they need. The SR60 scanner utilizes a programming guide for quick and easy configuration. This programming guide provides quick access to barcodes for updating preferences. The guide ships with the product and is also available on the Intermec website in the manuals section.

What accessories are available for the SR60 scanner?
The SR60 accessories include a universal mounting kit, holder/forklift mount, heated scanner holders, and an industrial dangle suspension.

Should my current 1553 customers be migrating to the SR60 now?
Yes, orders are accepted immediately. Volume shipments are expected at the end of July 2006

Can any of the accessories for the 1553 be shared with the SR60?
No.

Is the SR60 RoHS compliant?
Yes, the SR60B version is RoHS compliant.

Do we have a version of the SR60 with battery pack and radio?
No, however the future Intermec SR61 (available soon) is a battery operated handheld industrial strength scanner. This scanner utilizes a Bluetooth radio for communications. Current scan options include Vista linear imager, area imager, and standard range laser. Long range and extra long range options for the SR61 will be introduced late 2006.

What is the warranty coverage for the SR60 scanner?
The Intermec SR60 has a three-year warranty.

Is the SR60 scanner available as a kit?
Yes, you can order an SR60 kit with choice of serial, USB, and keyboard wedge cables. When ordering the kit with serial cable the power supply must be ordered separately.

Do all cable configurations for the SR60 scanner require a separate power supply?
No, only the four available RS232 to PC cables require a separate power supply.

Does the SR60 support batch scanning?
No, the SR60 is not a batch scanner.
