The CN2 series serves as an attractive compliment to the existing Pen Notepad from Intermec by featuring a smaller form factor, more aggressively priced mobile computer for targeted applications as well as a competitive response for customers looking for a more rugged offering than a commercial grade PDA. The CN2B expands the value line of PDA-style devices primarily directed including key differentiators such as different keypad layout, Expanded Symbology Support and improvements in Operating Systems (Windows Mobile 2.003) and Bluetooth® radio integrated as well.

Product Description

The primary attributes of the CN2B include:

• 64MB RAM x 64MB Flash
• EV10 Linear Imager (extended symbology)

Positioning

The CN2B offerings will complement the existing Pen Notepad platform by providing a low-cost solution with a minimal feature set. Also there are key elements that differentiate this solution from the CN2A. Details can be shown as follows:

Also note that the CN2B utilizes the exact same OS as the 700 Series, so application migration will be extremely easy for the customer and the partner. Neither will incur a substantial development cost to take advantage of the new form-factor offered by the CN2B.

As a customer’s needs expand, the customer can be migrated to the performance line of CN30 computer, enabling them to customize the solution to meet their needs for a slight premium.

Markets & Applications

The CN2B will increase Intermec’s reach into the competitive pen-based PDA form factor currently targeting in-premise and by offering CN2A, covers also mobile batch applications where no WWAN features are required. These applications will be primarily found in the following markets:

• Retail Store Operations/Management
The CN2B with its ergonomic pocket size will be positioned within the retail market as a low cost rugged PDA with integrated bar code scanning and Bluetooth to accomplish: Price lookup & verification; Shelf pricing; Cycle counting; Receiving; Mark-up/markdowns; as well as Sales Automation such as merchandising and pharmacy sales. To be fully compatible with Cisco infrastructure is also a must for this markets and applications where Cisco has more than 80% of the market. Here is the main focus of this terminal being complemented by CN30 in the highest performance level. Both gives the perfect offer covering the needs of all Store Operations.

• DSD
The CN2B offers a strong value for applications in DSD such as merchandising, delivery and vending that don’t require an integrated WWAN radio, but giving the value of wireless communications as soon as coming back to the depot. For this kind of application a vehicle dock will be available very soon.

• Transportation: In-Transit Visibility
The CN2 family offers a strong value for indoor applications found in distribution/sorting facilities like Package Tracking. For Proof of Delivery, CN2 will be connected to a list of peripherals such as GPS, cell phones and vehicle or mobile printers by Bluetooth™.
