Enhancements to the Intermec 7x1 portfolio

The 7x1 Series continues to be one of the most versatile solutions on the market for both in-premise and field mobility applications. The recent enhancements within the 7x1B models - EA11 Area Imager, 802.11 b/g radio & EDGE WAN technology to name a few – extended the life of the 700 Series and verified our continued commitment to our customers. This Product Alert introduces several additional enhancements to the 7x1 portfolio to improve the overall value proposition of the solution.

Announcing Windows Mobile 5.0.

Windows Mobile 5.0 will begin shipping in the 741B & 751B models in April 2007; orders will be accepted from February 2007. Windows Mobile 5.0 offers customers several enhancements, including:

• Persistent Storage - provides enhanced protection for your critical data
• Softkeys - offering improved one-handed navigation and faster access to key functionality
• Microsoft Exchange push-email support - enables improved email communication, as well as enhanced synchronization capabilities, to optimize data transfers from the field.

Please note several conditions apply to the release and support of Windows Mobile 5.0 on the 7x1 Series:
• Available on 741B & 751B models only (Not backwards compatible to the 7x0, 7x1A models)
• Supported on 128MB RAM configurations only
• Offers support for Worldwide English only (Localized OS options will not be released)
• 761 models will not support WM5.0

When ordering your 741/51B mobile computer, you will be provided the option to select either WM2003 or WM5.0 within the Software Load section of the computer configuration matrix of the mobile computer´s Price Guide page.

A beta version of the WM5 7x1 OS will be made available from the Downloads section of the Intermec public web site by the February, 2007, to enable application development/testing.
