What is InterDriver 7?

Intermec InterDriver is a compilation of Windows drivers for the complete line of Intermec EasyCoder bar code label printers. The new version 7 ensures that printers are utilizing the full throughput at all times, bringing the most powerful Windows printing solution to the market.

InterDriver 7 also supports the powerful easy-to-use Intermec ActiveX© Controls. These are unique software Controls that enable barcodes or serialised controls to be embedded in Windows Applications for printing on Intermec EasyCoder printers using the InterDriver™.

The high throughput, combined with the bi-directional driver, results in a printing solution which is unique on the market.

What´s New in InterDriver 7?

• Support for bi-directional communication which allows the driver to constantly monitor printer status.

• Status Monitor will ensure that the user will get instant information on the status of pending print jobs. Problems like Out of Paper, Out of Ribbon or Head Open will be reported through the Print Spooler, as well as optional Status Icons, Task Bar Icon and Status Window. The user will achieve maximum printer up time.

• Windows XP Professional x64 support. Windows 95 and NT4 are no longer supported. Users with these operating systems are referred to InterDriver v.6.x.

• Additional User Interface Languages; increased from 8 to 24.

• Support for EasyCoder PD41. Prints labels with fabulous throughput, even for heavy graphical print jobs.

• Support for additional encodings, including UTF-8, enables printing a mix of languages on the same label, even if using printer resident fonts.

• Various font functionality improvements:
- improved functionality of downloaded fonts
- support for strikeout and underline using printer commands
- custom font options
- font substitution ability

• Driver Removal Tool – effectively cleans your Windows installation from old versions of InterDriver, to ensure that InterDriver 7 will perform as intended on your Windows system.

Intermec ActiveX Controls

Intermec ActiveX Controls has been available since 1999, and has proven to be a valuable tool to simplify printing from many Windows applications.
For anybody not familiar with them, here are some key advantages:

Intermec ActiveX© Controls are powerful, embeddable objects whose structure and behaviour conform to Microsoft’s ActiveX standard. The bar codes and text can be inserted into many Windows applications as easily as bitmapped bar codes or TrueType text. However, ActiveX Controls have their own “intelligence” that delivers a variety of far more powerful capabilities, including:

• Outstanding ease of use. User friendly dialogues that assist the novel bar code user to enter the necessary information. Extensive On-line Help to assist further.
• Use of the high-speed barcodes built into the EasyCoder printers, instead of much slower bitmap and/or TrueType technology.
• Bar codes and text that can be automatically serialised.
• The ability, when used with some Windows programs, to link with a variable data source in that program. (This allows Windows programs that know how to read data from databases, e.g. MS Access to print using the high-speed capabilities of your thermal printer.)
• Intelligent barcodes that can compute check digit values and process advanced application identifiers “on-the-fly.” Ideal for UCC/EAN 128 barcodes.
• Bar codes that can be easily and independently resized in both height and width using conventional mouse motions.
• Bar codes whose wide-to-narrow and bars-to-spaces ratios are always “in spec,” regardless of how the height and width of the overall bar code has been set.
• Control of the human readable characters as an intelligently-linked part of the bar code, instead of as a separate text component that has to be painstakingly positioned and formatted to look like it belongs with the bar code.
