The new Diamond extends Datalogic’s offer for the retail market with the smallest presentation scanner in its category and a high-value cost-effective solution for omni-directional scanning in hands-free applications. With its small footprint, reading accuracy, scan speed and first pass read rate, the Diamond™ is the ideal solution for check-out activities in the retail market, as well as front-desk operations in post offices and courier services.

The reduced dimensions of the presentation scanner make it suitable to fit in the small space available at the counter. In addition, the new Diamond™ is available in the colour dark grey to keep in line with the latest colour trends in the retail market. Datalogic has completely renewed the optics and electronics in the new Diamond™ to provide improved reading performance. It can read at 1200 scans per second to assure smart and quick reading activities Furthermore, it is equipped with the Datalogic code reconstruction system to read non-oriented labels placed in various positions on objects, as well as poorly printed or damaged codes. It can read standard linear bar codes in addition to RSS, and can be upgraded in the field to keep it up to date with new functions or bar codes, hence protecting the customer’s investment. The optics in the Diamond™ are protected from external environmental agents and particular attention has been given to make the product more durable. Built-in shock absorbers protect the scan module and motor assembly from shocks and dust.

Like all the other new hand held readers from Datalogic, the new Diamond™ presentation scanner is a multi-interface product with a USB interface as standard in addition to RS232, Wedge and Wand. In addition, the new Diamond™ has a stand-by mode and “wake-up” feature, single-line scan pattern option, beeper for good read confirmation, and a complete set of stands for versatility in installation.
