Announcing Wavelink Pre-load and Pre-license for Avalanche and Terminal Emulation

Datalogic Mobile has entered into a long term strategic relationship with Wavelink Corporation to offer both Avalanche (device management) and Terminal Emulation pre-loaded and pre-licensed on our devices. Datalogic Mobile is the first company in the industry to pre-license management software on all CE devices at no extra cost!

Wavelink Avalanche

Avalanche® is a powerful yet easy-to-use management solution that provides complete visibility and control of mobile devices from a central console. Avalanche eases the configuration, deployment, and management of mobile devices. Avalanche consists of 2 components: the client enabler software that runs on the Datalogic device and the host server and console software that runs on a PC.

Wavelink Terminal Emulation

Wavelink Terminal Emulation (TE) gives you the flexibility to utilize the most popular emulation types including 5250, 3270, VT100, VT110, and VT220. It also gives you the advantage of running multiple emulation sessions concurrently (i.e. 5250 and VT) and easily navigate between them, all from the same Datalogic Mobile device.

Overview

All new Datalogic Windows CE devices manufactured after September 1, 2008 include a fully licensed Avalanche Enabler, and include a free license to the console and server software (Avalanche Site Edition or Mobility Center). Additionally, Wavelink Terminal Emulation is also pre-licensed on select Datalogic Windows CE devices. As part of this release and required for Wavelink to be pre-licensed on the device, firmware v3.0 is now shipping on all CE devices starting September 1st. Note that Datalogic Windows Mobile devices will also offer Wavelink starting in Q4 2008.

• Wavelink Speakeasy Voice Plug-in (for Terminal Emulation)

o Voice Enabled Emulation is a verbal communication system that facilitates real time voice communication between the host computer and the mobile device user. Voice Enabled Emulation provides the ability to translate data from the host computer into spoken directions that the user is able to hear. The user’s response can then be translated into data and transmitted back to the host computer. Speakeasy has been certified on the Datalogic Jet, Pegaso, and Kyman.

• Wavelink Industrial Browser Plug-in (for Terminal Emulation)

o Wavelink’s Industrial Browser provides a secure option for web applications running on the same device as terminal emulation. Supports multiple concurrent sessions, smooth handling of out of range situations, customizable hot-keys, advanced scanning capabilities, and even maintains settings between applications. Ideal for a customer that has a legacy terminal emulation application but also wants to run newer web based applications on the same device. When used with Wavelink’s Speakeasy, you can now easily voice enable your web-based application.

• Remote Control Plug-in (for Avalanche)

o With the Avalanche Remote Control plug-in, an administrator can now remotely diagnose and remedy both applications and device settings, or simply provide assisted guidance for an end-user. This reduces mobile device down-time and increases end-user productivity.

o Remote Control “Skins” are now available for all Datalogic models. This allows the administrator to see exactly what the user sees on a Datalogic device, including ability to use the keys or touch screen.

• CE Secure Plug-in (for Avalanche)

o Avalanche CE Secure is a plug-in to Wavelink Avalanche that provides advanced user authentication and security on Windows CE™ mobile devices. With Avalanche CE Secure, administrators can reduce the risk that a lost or stolen mobile device will be used to compromise an organization’s critical system or data.

Training on Wavelink

Datalogic Mobile has just announced new web based training, offering modules on many of our products including a brand new self-paced training module on Wavelink Avalanche. You will be sent a code and instructions on how to access and use the Datalogic “Ease of Training” program.

Service Contracts – Big Changes!

Effective September 1, 2008, Wavelink software maintenance for Avalanche and Terminal Emulation are included in new hardware contracts for pre-licensed Datalogic Windows CE devices for the length of the contract (at no additional cost!). Software maintenance may also be purchased separately if desired. Wavelink maintenance includes major software releases and minor revision releases. Datalogic Mobile will provide Technical Support.
