New Firmware for all Datalogic Windows Mobile Devices
Datalogic Mobile is announcing a major new firmware release for all their Windows Mobile devices: version 3.10.
This new firmware is now shipping on all Datalogic Windows Mobile models as of January 1, 2009. Note that all Datalogic Mobile CE products already have these capabilities since September 1, 2008.
Datalogic Windows Mobile devices with new firmware version 3.10 include:
• JET
• Pegaso
• Falcon 4400 Series
• Kyman and Kyman Gun
New Features
V3.10 firmware has some exciting upgrades to further differentiate our product range from the competition. It also includes some improvements to the look and feel and to ensure all Datalogic devices are more consistent across our range.
Major new features of v3.10 include:
• Wavelink Avalanche Enablers are included free of charge and are pre-loaded and pre-licensed on every new Windows Mobile device manufactured after January 1, 2009 (embedded in the v3.10 image). See Product Bulletin: PBDLM-080903A for more information on Wavelink Avalanche.
• The following Windows Mobile, firmware v3.10 devices now have Wavelink Terminal Emulation pre-licensed and pre-loaded before shipment (all WiFi/RF models): Falcon 4400 Series (both Handheld and Gun), and Kyman (both Handheld and Gun). See Product Bulletin: PBDLM-080903A for more information on Wavelink TE.
• All v3.10 RF devices have Wavelink Terminal Emulation pre-loaded (will run in demo mode for those devices not pre-licensed as listed above).
• Wavelink’s “Scan to Configure” is included in the v3.10 image, providing the ability for a user to configure a device within seconds of removing it from the box.
• DDU (Datalogic Desktop Utility), formerly known as Falcon Desktop Utility (FDU) has been updated to replace Application Manager and Locked Web Browser functionality and is integrated into all v3.10 devices. DDU allows on-device configuration and lockdown.
• DCU (Datalogic Configuration Utility), formerly known as Local Configurator (also replaces Falcon Management Utility). This utility allows the user to configure the hardware specific parameters and Datalogic application parameters.
• DFU (Datalogic Firmware Utility), formerly known as Falcon Update Utility (FUU). DFU is now used on all Datalogic devices to update firmware (post v3.0).
• All Datalogic Windows Mobile devices now share a common desktop for “common look & feel”, and a consistent Start menu.
• GS1 DataBar (formerly RSS) symbology support is now integrated into the image for all Windows Mobile v3.10 devices.
• USB VID (Vendor Identification) is now included on all Datalogic devices so our users no longer have to load a USB driver before using ActiveSynch.
• Scanner is now turned on by default (in wedge mode) on all devices.
• New Summit Radio client (V2.1) is integrated into the firmware with the following major new features:
• CCX v4 support
• Worldwide Mode improvements (Auto adjusts for FCC and ETSI)
Upgrades
Upgrades for all Datalogic Windows Mobile devices will be available on our website at no charge starting in February, but without pre-licensed Wavelink (available at additional cost for legacy devices). See www.mobile.datalogic.com
