Dragon and Lynx Become Part of the PowerScan Brand

The transformation of Datalogic and the formation of Datalogic Scanning brought together two great companies with an exceptional range of industrial scanning products. The portfolio of products includes three strong brands: Dragon, Lynx and PowerScan, with technologies that span laser, linear imager, and 2D imager abilities. As we move forward with product development, we now have the opportunity to merge these product lines and provide our customers with a clear, logical transition to our next generation of industrial scanners.

The process of rationalization will start with a reduction in the number of brands. All products belonging to the industrial family will have the brand of PowerScan. PowerScan established the category of ruggedized industrial scanners and enjoys broad worldwide name recognition. This decision is reinforced by the large number of installed PowerScans versus other Datalogic industrial brands.

The obvious advantages in the reduction of the brands are:
• More focused activities around a single brand 
• More effectiveness of the advertising campaign
• Creation of a link between the PowerScan brand and the "industrial ruggedized products" from Datalogic

The first step will occur in late January 2008 and it will affect the 1D laser products. Datalogic will "merge" the actual Dragon and PowerScan families into the new PowerScan 8300 family, the new hand held laser scanner for industrial applications. All the existing models of Dragon, corded and mobile, and all existing models of the original PowerScan and PowerScan RF will be discontinued and replaced by a broad array of new products able to satisfy the most demanding situations.
