Datalogic Announces Elf, its new Professional PDA

Datalogic Mobile is pleased to announce Elf™, its new Professional PDA. As the name implies, Elf is our smallest PDA yet, but still packed with all the features you expect in a rugged PDA. Elf is designed with all the technology and robustness needed for Field Service, Field Sales, Delivery, Retail and Logistics applications. Capitalizing on Datalogic Mobile’s legendary ergonomics, this new PDA packs unprecedented features into a compact form factor built for single handed operation.

Elf is the first device coming with Power3: the new concept from Datalogic, evolves from extensive research into the core needs of all enterprise stakeholders. Three main pillars drive this concept: C3 real time technologies; F3 ergonomics and rugged construction; D3 easy and intuitive tools.

Elf’s Power3 construction starts with a parallel microprocessor architecture using a PXA310 and ARM-7 processors combined with 256 MB RAM & Flash and Windows Mobile 6.5, the brand new version of Microsoft’s operating system dedicated to mobile’s world. Elf’s 1D laser scanner and 2D imager both come equipped with Datalogic’s patented Green Spot good read feedback. Combined with the 2D imager, an optional HF RFID interrogator provides an additional data capture option. The Elf is also outfitted with an autofocus 3MPixel camera with flash. A complete set of radios keeps the users connected throughout the day: HSDPA UMTS (3.5G) for voice and data, along with Summit’s latest Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g wireless radio with Cisco CCX v4 certification. Bluetooth connects you to wireless headsets and printers. Elf’s GPS receiver helps with route planning and proof of delivery. The Micro USB port facilitates charging with a phone industry standard power supply or USB On-the-Go (OTG) communications.

Datalogic’s software tools and strategic software alliances fit Elf to the business practice. Datalogic Desktop and Configuration utilities offer full control over the on-device experience. Wavelink Avalanche enables rapid deployment and central management of Elf installations (Avalanche is pre-loaded and pre-licensed on every Elf). Finally, Datalogic’s Ease of Care comprehensive service programs protect the Elf investment for the long term.
