CT-S651 - new POS printer from Citizen

Citizen Systems Europe, the leading manufacturer of point-of-sale, label, barcode and portable printers, has now announced that it will be rounding off its range of POS printers by introducing its new CT-S651 midrange model. Now the company has just the right model to offer for the point-of-sale application at hand and, at the same time, has managed to become the first vendor in the industry to offer such a wide variety of different printing solutions.

Like all of the other printers that belong to the CT-S600/CT-S800 series, the new midrange printer is quite impressive thanks to its unique service approach that translates into high user friendliness and easy maintenance. Like its big brother, the CT-S851, the new printer helps prevent spilled liquids or foreign objects, like breadcrumbs or potting soil, from damaging its internal mechanism thanks to its Spill-ShieldTM design and the fact that this printer prints out tickets and receipts on the front side. For this reason, it is particularly well-suited for use in hospitality, as well as areas of retail in which a higher level of soiling occurs, like bakeries, garden centers and do-it-yourself stores.

With a print speed of 200mm/sec, the CT-S651 series offers just the right level of performance for the midrange segment. And like the other models from this series, the new printer features an innovative self-retracting cutter that makes it extremely easy to operate. In the event of a cutter jam, all one needs to do is lift the lever for the paper cover. The cutter then self retracts automatically and the cash register is ready for use once again.

With a speed of only 0.5 seconds per cut, the cutter cuts about twice as fast as other models on the market. It can also be used for either full or partial cuts. In addition, all of the important replacement parts, including the cutter or the thermal head, can be replaced without using tools. Thanks to an innovative snap-in system from Citizen, these modules can be removed and replaced once again by simply lifting two levers.

Including Powered USB

Configurations are performed using either the LCD display or the software that comes with the printer and allows for all of the settings to be adjusted. In addition, preconfigured settings are also provided to ensure that the printers of the CT-S600/CT-S800 series are also compatible with other printers. They feature all of the same standard interfaces. Alternatively, these printers can be equipped with Powered USB or a USB interface with an integrated USB hub so that other USB devices can be easily connected to the printer in cases where not enough space is available. An additional serial interface that allows for external serial devices to be connected, such as customer displays, also comes as a standard feature.

These printers accommodate a wide range of different types of paper, as well. Four different print widths from 58 – 83mm and thicknesses of 65 – 150μm are possible. The thermal head pressure can be easily adjusted to accommodate these by using the adjustment lever.
