BarTender 9.1 Now Shipping, Introduces Powerful Security Features

The latest release of Seagull Scientific´s industry-leading BarTender label software introduces new functions especially dedicated to permissions control and record-keeping. Other new features include support of Windows "Supplementary Character" functions for the display and printing of additional Asian characters.

Brand New "BarTender Security Center"

BarTender Security Center introduces a variety of advanced security functions, including:

• Multi-level permissions management of users and groups.
• Login overrides. 
• Label format encryption.
• Optional logging of permission requests (Enterprise Print Server only).
• Request for and logging of Electronic Signatures (Enterprise Print Server only). 

BarTender Security Center comes with all Enterprise editions. (Electronic signatures and the logging of permission requests require the Enterprise Print Server edition.)

Essential for Compliance with CFR 21, Part 11 and Other Security Guidelines

The permissions management, logging functions, and electronic signature support provided by the new BarTender Security Center are essential to satisfying the CFR 21, Part 11 guidelines of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as the security guidelines of other agencies and organizations.

• Label Format Passwords: Now you can lock down individual label formats. (This functionality is not dependent on the new Security Center and is available in the Professional edition of BarTender, as well as all Enterprise editions.)  

• Reprint from within Printer Maestro: Ever have one ore more label jobs get "stuck" in the print job queue due to running out of labels or a printer hardware failure? Now you can delete stuck jobs and reroute them to another printer (even a different brand) using a single, quick mouse motion.

• Log Printer Maestro Print Jobs: Now, you can log important event information about all of your Windows print jobs (not just those from BarTender).

• New History Explorer Log Views: In support of new Security Center and Printer Maestro functions, the History Explorer application now offers four additional views.

• Support for "Supplementary" Asian Characters: BarTender now displays and prints the Supplementary Characters located in the 16 additional Unicode "planes."

• Improved Bar Code Encoding of International Characters: BarTender now takes advantage of additional options for encoding non-English text into a variety of 2D bar code symbologies.
