Automatic Data Capture
Companies invest large amounts of money today on hardware and sophisticated business systems. If the input data to these systems is not reliable and up to date, the investments are wasted.
Automatization of the collection of data is the only solution to this problem. Manual methods as well as input via the keyboard are too time-consuming, too expensive and provide opportunities for incorrect infeeding. Due to this, ADC - Automatic Data Capture/Collection - has expanded considerably over the whole world during recent years.
Automatic Data Capture/Collection has three key words:
WRITE
Stage one is to mark with a bar code label or RFID tag, such as on a document, packet, person or product.
• RFID, Label and barcode printers
• Card Printers
• Receipts printers
• Barcode and RFID software
• Tags, Labels, Ribbons
READ
Stage two is to register the marked goods by scanning/reading the bar code on the label, for example when it is moved in or out of a warehouse, is sold in a store or is delivered to a customer.
• Scanners
• Handheld Computers & Terminals
• Fixed Mount Computers
TRANSMIT
Stage three is to transmit the registered data to the company´s central data system. One can then handle the data so that it becomes useful information. Increased productivity and reduced costs are typical advantages of ADC. Return on investment is often shorter than one year.
